Stella was my teacher in my last year at St Gilbert's, 1976-77.
She had such a great sense of humour, and she really knew her pupils. 
She treated us as human beings, and knew how far she could go with teasing.
I was rubbish at art, but good at spelling, and after one episode when I was allowed out first in to the "Share Darea" (sic) because of getting 100% in a spelling test, she encouraged all the others in the class with the phrase "but she can't draw"!

And all those pictures of her - from a small child to an old lady: instantly recognisable!

RIP Mrs Ward. You were the best.
